THE BASICS OF AN INVITATION
Before making the card, it is important that we have decided some basic questions: The date, time and place will be the most important, since this information is essential to deliver with the invitation. It is possible to add more data such as the baby’s name, if we have already decided. Although any other detail is optional, our guests will appreciate receiving as much information as possible.
THE MEANING
The BABY shower is a celebration of life and means “showering parents with useful gifts for the baby”. Gifts that will help to care for and raise the baby more effectively and less exhaustingly, so that mom and dad can have more time to enjoy the precious moments that will come during the first months of life. Also, the BABY shower is an event to celebrate in advance the arrival of a new member of the family. In addition, it is time to help mom and dad, along with family and friends, to prepare for the challenge of properly loving, caring for and educating a baby.
INFORMATION ON THE CARD
In general, the following is usually included in the invitation to a BABY shower:
- Name of the baby or mother.
- Date and time of the event.
- Place.
- Name of the Hostess or Organizer.
Optional information that may be useful to guests:
- Baby’s gender.
- RSVP (a request for guests to RSVP).
- Telephone or mail to confirm attendance.
- Dress code.
- Location of the gift list or the suggested gift.
- Indications if the event is exclusively for adults or if they can attend with children or companions.
- Map or directions to the event site. If it is printed, it can go on a separate sheet. If the invitation is digital, it can be an image or a link to a map app.
DIGITAL OR PRINTED?
Digital is the trend. In addition, we can include in a digital card several useful elements for the guests, such as: the list of gifts and Google Maps routes… However, in formal events, it is still mandatory to send printed invitations, which can be complemented with a virtual reminder.
WHEN TO SEND THE INVITATION
Three to four weeks before the celebration is appropriate for informal events. So that guests have enough time to RSVP and get a suitable gift. Although, it is always advisable to remind them later a week in advance for more formal events, we can send the invitation a couple of months in advance.
MAKING THE CARD
We have several options when making a BABY shower card. We must first decide whether we will deliver them in print or send them digitally. The current trend seeks to move away from the traditional pastel colors; especially, in the typical pink and blue tones, for girls and boys. Currently, neutral, slightly saturated colors are on the rise. However, tradition is tradition and the most classic styles will always be an alternative. Everything will depend on personal tastes and the general style that we have chosen for the winter baby shower invites. The designs and colors that help the new mom feel more comfortable will always be the best.
